The classic game will lure you in and keep you up all night. Here are some Cheats, Tips, and Tricks you need to know to refine your 8 Ball Pool skills!

Aiming a shot is important in pool, but the amount of power you use is essential as well. Packing too much power in a shot could lead the cue ball to be potted. However, if the ball is far away from the pocket, it would be a good idea to use more power than usual.

But remember! Do not accidentally exert too little power thinking the ball is too close! This would result in missing an easy shot, and occurs when trying to score on the middle pockets. Beginners tend to use the wrong amount of power. but judging how much power is necessary will come with time.

Putting a spin on the cue ball can prevent potting the cue ball, and can even place you in a position for a perfect shot. At first, the cue ball in the corner of the screen may seem confusing and useless. This is not the case for those who have perfected the craft of creating a spin on the ball. Well, how do you use this mechanism to your advantage?

First, click the cue ball in the corner of the screen. Then either use the arrow keys or simply drag the red dot into a spot where you want the cue to strike. Creating a backspin would require you to place the dot near the bottom of the cue ball. A topspin would require you to move it to the top of the ball.

The guideline provided when aiming your shot is extremely useful; use it to plan future shots or deciding on how to spin the ball. This requires you to know what ball you want to pot next, even before you get to that stage. To plan efficiently, use the right amount of power and spin in your shot to get into your desired position. If you need to get across the table, get a good angle (using the guideline) and leave a good spin on the cue ball. Doing so will take away the need of aiming a long and difficult shot.

However, be careful of putting too much power and spin when planning for the future. Attempting to travel to the other side of the playing field could result in a potted cue ball!

Knowing the rules will help you to succeed when you land in a tough situation! Here are some well-known, but must-know rules when playing 8 Ball Pool.

1. Even if you pot a ball when breaking, you can still decide whether you want to be solids or stripes. Even if you potted a striped ball, don’t think “That’s one down, I should go for stripes”. The solids could be in better positions, while the striped balls could be still in the center.

2. HIT THE RAIL! If a ball does not hit any rail (around the whole table), it is considered a foul. This will allow the opposing player to place the cue ball wherever he/she wants.

3. If you score the black ball, but take the cue ball down with it, you automatically lose the game. Keep in mind your power and spin when taking home the victory.

4. When you decide to step up to the Cairo tier and above, you will be required to call which pocket the black ball will go in. If your “call” is incorrect, then you lose the game.
